Abstract:
This study explores the influence of family background on the vocational course selection among rural students in Palwal, Haryana. Specifically, it investigates how parental education, occupation, and socio-economic status impact students’ preferences for vocational education. The research uses a quantitative approach, employing a structured questionnaire from 25 student s who are Class 12 pass-out belong to rural areas. Key findings suggest that students from lower socio-economic backgrounds are more likely to choose vocational courses due to financial constraints, while those with educated parents tend to pursue a broader range of educational opportunities. The study state that creating awareness about diverse vocational options and addressing infrastructural gaps can significantly improve the enrollment in vocational training programs. It’shighlight the importance of family influence in shaping educational choices and provide valuable insights into policy-making for rural educational development.
