Abstract:
This study investigates the interrelationship among personality development, moral values, and environmental awareness of secondary school students in Nalanda District, Bihar, India. A descriptive survey method was adopted with a sample of 600 students (300 male and 300 female) drawn from 15 secondary schools using random sampling. Three standardized tools were employed: the Multidimensional Personality Inventory (MPI) by Manju Agrawal, the Moral Value Scale by A. Sen Gupta and Arun Kumar Singh, and a self-constructed Environmental Awareness questionnaire. Statistical techniques including percentage analysis, mean, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's Product Moment Coefficient of Correlation were applied. Key findings revealed that the majority of students exhibited average levels across all three dimensions. Significant differences were found based on type of school (missionary schools outperforming others), mothers' qualification, and gender (females scoring higher in moral values). Significant positive correlations were found between personality development and moral values for all students, and between personality development and environmental awareness for male students. The study underscores the need for value-based, personality-enriching educational interventions at the secondary school level.
