Abstract:
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine and metabolic disorders affecting women of reproductive age. It is characterized by hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, menstrual irregularities, and ovarian dysfunction. PCOS not only affects the reproductive system but also influences renal physiology through metabolic and cardiovascular alterations. Anatomical and functional changes in the ovaries, uterus, kidneys, and associated endocrine pathways contribute to long-term complications such as infertility, hypertension, obesity, and renal impairment. Conventional treatment mainly focuses on hormonal therapy and lifestyle modification; however, increasing attention is being given to complementary approaches such as naturopathy and yoga. Naturopathy emphasizes diet therapy, hydrotherapy, fasting, herbal remedies, and lifestyle correction, while yoga improves hormonal balance, stress reduction, metabolic regulation, and reproductive health. This review discusses the anatomical and functional changes occurring in renal and reproductive systems in PCOS and highlights the therapeutic role of naturopathy and yoga in the holistic management of the disorder.
